I feel very lucky, every day, to be able to come to work with my great staff and care for the awesome patients who trust us with their orthodontic needs. I used to feel our job was to create great smiles, and that still is part of the goal, but over the years I’ve found that we’re actually in the business of fostering and building confidence.
Watching both adults and younger patients come to us feeling uncomfortable with their appearance, and over time feel better about themselves, is very rewarding. I love having people come back for retainer checks, and seeing how their self-confidence has grown and how much happier they are. It’s a good feeling to know we played a part in that transformation.
Working with patients and their families over several years gives us a unique opportunity to get to know each other. In many ways, it feels like we’re part of hundreds of families. Coming from a dental family myself, I am honored to be able to help others. — Dr. Donald Cassidy, Jr.

Dr. Cassidy regularly attends continuing education meetings in order to stay current on the quickly evolving landscape of orthodontics. He knows technology is changing our lives in many ways, and orthodontics is no different. Only five years ago, Invisalign® patients had to endure difficult impressions that took five minutes each and often needed to be redone. Now, with the use of the iTero® Digital Impression System, Dr. Cassidy is able to get an excellent 3D image comfortably in just a few minutes!

Beyond the Practice
Originally from Fort Fairfield, Dr. Cassidy has called Presque Isle home for more than 25 years. His wife, Kathleen Ledger Cassidy, is a stained-glass artist: Stained Glass by KLC. The couple has two grown sons. Bennett lives in southern Maine and works in finance at Key Auto Group in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Brock recently graduated from Bowdoin and works at Quicken Loans in Detroit.
When they’re not working, Dr. Cassidy and Kathleen spent a lot of time at their camp at East Grand Lake: relaxing and doing some fishing. They also enjoy traveling and seeing new things, so they hit the road as often as they can.
Closer to home, Dr. Cassidy likes to golf at Aroostook Valley Country Club, cycle, and cheer for Notre Dame football. He also has his private pilot’s license and loves flying over the area.
